18 Verses on the Benefits of Obedience to God

Obedience is one of those things we start learning as young children. We’re (hopefully) taught early about respecting our parents and other authority figures.

We’ve heard all the bible verses on the importance of obedience.

So, it seems we should have it mastered by the time we’re grown right?! Well, I don’t know about you, but I’m not quite there yet.

Following God isn’t always easy.

Especially when he seems to be leading me in the opposite direction of where I want to go. Or asks me to make an impossible decision.

But I know that learning how to hear and obey God leads to blessing and victory. I choose to trust him with my future and the present journey I have to walk to get there.

And you can too.

I’ve put together a few verses on obedience to help all of us along the way.

These scriptures inspire us to trust God’s plan above our own. They help us follow him even when the path gets rough or the way ahead seems hidden.

Most importantly, they remind us that a truly blessed life comes from obeying the very One who gave it to us in the first place.

Verses on the blessings of obedience

Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him.

Psalms 128:1 NIV

He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”

Luke 11:28 NIV

This is what I told them: “Obey me, and I will be your God, and you will be my people. Do everything as I say, and all will be well!”

Jeremiah 7:23 NLT

Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.

And observe what the Lord your God requires: Walk in obedience to him, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and regulations, as written in the Law of Moses. Do this so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go.

1 Kings 2:3 NIV

Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Joshua 1:8 NIV

Now if you will obey me and keep my covenant, you will be my own special treasure from among all the peoples on earth; for all the earth belongs to me.

Exodus 19:5 NLT
